Galaxy Express 999.

Size: M
Where: Uniqlo

Why: 999 is a great show, and probably my favorite of the "Leijiverse" (including such luminous titles as Captain Harlock, Queen Emereldas, Queen Millennia, Maetel Legend, Galaxy Railways, and, tenuously, Space Battleship Yamato).

Comment: Uniqlo had a whole bunch of cool 999 shirts for cheap last summer, for some reason, and I had my choice of several. Even though I don't usually go for shirts from shows that just have the name of the show on it, I liked this one over the others because a) this was the only one that had Tetsuro in regular clothes (all the other ones had him wearing that head and wrapped from head to toe in that potatosack-looking cloak thing he wears), and b) I thought the v-neck was cute. I really need to go to Uniqlo more often.

Uniqlo shirts seem to be in Japanese sizes, as I bought my friend a Maetel shirt in XL that fit him just fine (he's a regular L). Their M shirts fit me fine though.

Mystery Mech.

Size: M
Where: Teefury

Why: Again, robots. And a transforming one yet!

Comment: I love how we've all so memorized and internalized the transforming action of these robots that anyone can tell instantly what this robot transforms into (of course, the ascot's a big hint). I can even excuse that, to my eye, the torso is backwards. But that's okay. :)

Flower Carrier.

Size: M
Where: woot

Why: I can rarely resist a robot shirt.

Comment: This shirt has a definite Miyazaki, Nausicaa / Laputa feel to it, no? I also like how the grey of the shirt forms the negative space of the miasma surrounding the graphic.

Higway Robbery.

Size: M
Where: Shan picked this up for me at a highway rest stop somewhere between here and...somewhere. Atlantic City, perhaps?

Why: She thought it was funny, and I would tend to agree.

Comment: It's a funny shirt, but funnier still is the fact that they were selling this shirt at a rest stop / gas station, the very place where said robbery takes place daily. Irony?

The dollar signs are amusing, but if you look closely you can see that they also put a little paisley pattern on the bandanna. Cute.

Bandanna. Bandanna. That's a funny word, isn't it? Bandanna. Bandanna. Bandanna. Bandanna.

Walt Disney World.

Size: M
Where: Johnny & Harlem bought this for me when they went to Disney World last summer.

Why: Johnny & Harlem got me this shirt and a bunch of other stuff (including a magnet shaped like Kermit the Frog's head) in return for me watching their apartment and their cats for a couple days, and also because they forgot to stock their fridge full of KitKats before they left, like they said they would.

Comment: Happy birthday, America! I wanted to post this shirt on the Fourth of July, because really what could be more American than Disney World?

Made in El Salvador WTF??
