The Office.

Why: I love The Office, and enjoyed this clever manga-style treatment of the four principal characters.

Comment: It's always fun watching people try to "figure out" the shirt. Everyone gets it, eventually (everyone who watches the show, anyway), but the interesting thing is that not only does everyone always identify a different character first (and the rest just cascade in from there), everyone will always choose one character as the one who "doesn't look a thing like him/her."

For me, the first character I identified was Pam, and I think that Michael "doesn't look a thing like him." But, someone (it may have been my brother) had the exact opposite impression: that Michael was the first one they identified, and Pam "doesn't look a thing like her." It's like some weird manga-ized rorschach, or something.

As I mentioned in talking about a past teejmart shirt, I'm fairly certain that this is not an original design, nor is it officially licensed. I would love to know where this image originally comes from. Is this from an ad? Or did someone (a fan, perhaps) actually draw a manga Office strip that's just floating around out there, somewhere? If you know, please share.

Comment: This shirt is nerdy because it's Star Wars, and nerdy because it's linguo-humor. This shirt is nerdy two ways. Yeah, I'll wear it.

San Francisco.

Why: It was on sale, I liked the color and graphic, and just wanted a San Francisco shirt.

Comment: I haven't been to SF in over 10 years, but recently had about a 2 hr. stopover there on way to or from some place or another -- just enough time to get some truly awful Mexican food (daring before a long plane flight, I know) and buy this shirt.



Something you might miss on this shirt at first glance is the tiny graphic of the Golden Gate Bridge in white after the "o". Pretty cute.

Watson Robots.

Where: Nakatomi



Why: The shirt incorporates two of my favorite things: Paul Pope and robots.

Comment: Nakatomi is a cool shirt/poster/etc. company with lots of great designs. Every so often they will hold an "invitational", which features the work of one artist designing limited editions of a print and t-shirt. Their first invitational featured the work of one of my very favorite artists, Paul Pope. This shirt features art from Pope's comic series THB, and is the first officially licensed THB merchandise in over a decade.


Tag.

This shirt is still available in limited sizes and quanitities here. Still plenty of the same shirt in silver ink though, apparently, as well as the poster and wood silkscreen.

Plain red t-shirt.

Where: Matty gave it to me.
Why: He didn't need it, thought I'd like it.
Comment: It fits and feels like an American Apparel, so we'll just assume that it is (apologies to all involved if it's actually something nicer/more expensive). Just a nice, comfortable shirt that I think fits me well.
